Can someone find a ride with a comparable sound to this puppy?

From Liatnor

Stumbled upon this beautiful beast while surfing ebay. After listening to the soundfile, I fell in love. Only, that's entirely out of my price range bahaha. I was wondering if you guys could think of anything that has a similar sound to it...Thanks.http://www.ebay.com/itm/22-Zildjian-Istanbul-Old-K-Vintage-Ride-Cymbal-Listen-Outstanding-/190683056468?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item2c65988954

I see that the soundfile is no longer working.

So here's a reasonable facsimile thereof:

Istanbul Agop Traditional is very well reproducing that type of sound. They are handhammered, same method as old K's. Weight of cymbal is crucial for their good sound

Check out the Soultone Vintage Old School series 22" crash ride. They have a video on their web site and while not exact, it might be close to what you are looking for and they are very nice cymbals.

Where are they made?

Where are they made?

I couldn't find it anywhere on the website, but I finally saw a close-up of a trademark stamp in the first few seconds of the video for the Custom Brilliant RA series. It says "Hand Made In Turkey."

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

But they don't make any cymbals of this make and this model that even come close to being in the same weight of the cymbal in question, so you can scratch that idea.

If you want one that sounds anything like that old K on eBay, then the only way to get it is by getting that one or another Istanbul K like it. There's no substitute brand that will get that sound, and there's no cheap shortcut to get you there either. That's why that those who can afford to will pay the big bucks that it takes to get the Istanbul K. It's because they instinctually understand this.

I didn't mentioned that it sounds the same. The method of manufacture is quite similar (hand hammering, wooden stove, imperfections, vintage grinder). And you can order CUSTOM cymbal in their factory, so I think they are able to match the weight for you.

Why not to try to give a chance to the guys who established business after experience in work for K zildjan factory, since they were kids?

And so does every other Turkish manufacturer. So what?

Because the sound wouldn't even come close, that's why.

And nobody still there there used to work in the K zildjan factory either. Agop is dead.

Hell, Zildjian can't do it even when they have the original to work from!

Same bronze and mix type but the difference in sound is due to:

1. Hand hammering giving it a much mellower sound partly due to its creation of a less stiff constitution.

2. A bell that was formed by hand hammering instead of a pressed in bell. And I mention point this separately from point #1 because the role that this part plays in the overall sound can't be emphasized enough.

3. Different tools were used, particularly the hammers. Also more hammering was done on the old K's throughout.
