Yea,..I wish !! Had a Skylark from 70, never should have got rid of it but ....
I remember that color on cars,..this 442/W30 had it, but also Dodge and Mustang.
It should look good on drums if you do your thing.
When you add veneers, do you change lug screws length, or is there enough play ? and, Are you changeing the floating heads feature ?
Never veneered drums before and these two concerns vary with drum companies !!

The veneer is about the same thickness as the wrap or al least close enough so the screws work and the heads fit fine. At least thats been my experience with the few kits I have done. The lime green kit I will be doing is not the Apollo kit in this thread, its a MIJ kit I got a couple weeks ago. It had a blue sparkle wrap that someone had painted red. The red paint is too much work to get off so I removed the wraps. These wraps were only glued where the wrap overlaped, no glue on the wood shell anywhere. So these wrap practically fell off leaving the wood good enough to work with as it is. The lime green will be candy pearl that you mix into a clear finsih. It is transparent, so the wood grain will show under the color. I will post pictures in a few weks when its done.

Well, I for one would like to see a little update on how you're doing Jeff... especially since I helped a little ;).

PS- I still haven't decided if you bought an acro snare and got a free set of Apollo's, or bought a set of Apollo's and got a free acro snare. Either way, it was a good deal.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Hi guys, I have been very busy with a big cabinet order and my Dad has been very sick as well. Just to clear things up a bit, I will be keeping the Apollo kit origional. Some where in this thread I mentioned the MIJ kit that I will be painting lime green for my daughter. I want to get the lime green one done first before she moves back to Florida. Then I want to get my Fibes kit restored. After all that, I will start working on the Apollo kit. Keith, thanks so much for the trade on the Apollo snare parts, I think those drums will be pretty cool when done. My next few weeks are going to be very difficult as mentioned my dad is not doing good at all. In fact I think I will not make it to the Chicago drum show now. But eventually things will get back to normal and these drum kits will all be restored. Thank you for your interest in my projects, its nice to know that others care about what I am doing. Have a good evening!
