Some additions:

Carl Palmer's main set was custom made 8-toms stainless steel prototype kit - not Premier. But sticks were really Premier-'C' type... :)

Nick Mason used double-BD Gretch kit - not Premier. But he used Premier's "Everplay Extra" heads.

Bobby Elliott played on his own Ludwig set also with Premier EE heads.

Art Blakey loved his Premier set ---sometimes in mix with Gretch.

Ed Blackwell and Alonzo Stewart were an active Premier users.

John Stevens (The Splinters), Warren Smith (ABC TV and 'Lifetime'), Eddie Prevost (Britain, 'AMM Music').

All these are an official data on July 1979 from Robert Paiste.

I agree that Carls kit for a time with ELP were custom stainless steel, and not an off the shelf kit.I was speaking of his Aisa kit which were Premier resonators.

If you look on the back of the album cover of Pink Floyds "Ummagumma" album, you will see a large double bass Premier kit Nick was using at the time. The kit can also be seen on a few Floyd vids done in the late 60's/early 70's.

I can't believe everybody forgot Ringo, who played Priemer before his famous Ludwigs.

I know he played a Gretsch kit briefly, but that was after the silver sparkle Ludwig kit used at Pompeii. Prior to the silver sparkle Ludwig kit and the clear Fibes kit, Mason played a "champagne" sparkle Premier kit. First a single bass, then a double bass kit.
