What year did Premier switch to round mounts on the toms?

Loading...

It's after the "dagger" mounts,right?

Still trying to date my Superstar kit..

That has round mounts and has a 9 by 13, so it's after 1972,but ...

got a International drum today with dagger mounts.

All drums are Mahogany inside...

Please help!

Are you speaking of the 388 and 389 tom holders individually?

or

Are you speaking of the 388/389 and the 391/392 tom holders?

I have the cats and am researching, but I'm not familiar with the terms dagger and round as used here. I've always known them by the numbers.

The dagger tom mounts (that go on the actual 12 or 13 toms ) are almost triangle shaped, and go to a sharp point...hence the term dagger..

The round mounts that go on a 12,13 etc are...well,round! :-)

Don't know them by numbers yet....

The first pic is an example from the late 60s. There are three different types here. Look closely at them.

The second pic is an example from the early 70s. There are two different shaped mounts there. One is round, the other has a pointed type end.

Are these what you are speaking to?

The first is from 69. The second is from 72.

Here's another pic from the 72 cat ... just to muddy the waters a bit.
