OK Who freaks....1)How did the POL kit gets it's name?2) how did The Who get their name?Back on track.......During my MASSIVE research on Premier recently,I read that Ian Paice was looking for a Premier 1960's-1970's 250s pedal in the last year or so,and I also read that That was Moonie's fav pedal, albeit with a Ludwig wooden beater!Carry on lads and lasses...

OK, Blair...

Although I´m not a Who freak, I´ll try my best:

1) In 1967 Keith Moon and Premier were working on a special kit, and Moon was the leading force in design.

The kit got it´s name from the same titled song by The Who. Pete Townsend wrote this song because he was inspired by a pin up postcard of actress Lily Bayliss that he had seen in his girlfriend´s place.

2) In 1964, the band´s name was "The Detours", and they changed their name to "The Who", taking the suggestion of Townshend's roommate Richard Barnes.

As said, I don´t know if these facts are historical correct - but I am eager to learn more!

OK.....I have heard different stories on the 2 questions........

no. 1) Moonie used to have lots of wank pics of girls on his bedroom wall....with a lot of them a certain girl named "Lily"...hence the title..

N0 2.)....The Who used to be called The High Numbers..

and when this guy would announce them on stage,he would go...

Here they are!...The High Numbers!...

then go..The Who?

After countless times of him doing that, the took the name The Who!

Sort of like when The Guess Who used to be called Guess Who?

Saw Deep Purple last month.

Very good show. Paice had a kit similar to those illustrated. No riser btw. The hihat looked even higher than illustrated. He was reaching up to it.

His fluidity and economy of motion were really impressive.

He is a terrific drummer.

The Deep Purp repertoire leaves me with mixed feelings--astonishing musicianship on the front line and drums, relatively dull bass parts and lyrics that seem juvenile beside the playing. Which is okay, unless the lyrics really really stink--I let them slide and enjoy the show.

Blair: I think I read somewhere that the 250 was Cozy Powell's favorite pedal too...Now if Ian is looking for that one Ill contact my friend Paolo Sburlati whos a very close friend of Ian to send him the pedal as a gift...Thanks for the tip!
