Premier questions....

I have about 20 10", new Premier Plus coated pre-international heads, if anyone wants any. They are actually 9 7/8"(250mm), if my memory serves me well.

7.00 + shipping(probably about 5.00 more to the U.S.).

My set is transitional (according to Bill Maley, the seller)... mahogany toms, birch bass drum.

I think the tom mount works fine... it's nice and light as are the drums; great for gigging... so much so that my heavy Sonor Phonics bop set, which was my primary gigging set for over 25 years, has been retired from the street, though I still play them at home. Nothing really compares to the sound and feel of the Phonics, IMHO.

If the gig is important enough to warrant toting the weight, I take the Phonics!

Here is Bill's demo from before the sale:

To get back to the heads. I went through all of the Everplay and Premier heads at my disposal and came up with more permutations than I thought.

There is Everplay Extra as a smooth finish, Everplay as coated, Everplay Extra(made in Taiwan) as coated, Premier(patented U.S. and U.K.) as coated and Premier Plus ( the same as the Premier).

I measured one and they are actually 240mm but they would fit 9 1/2 " drums but be snug.

BD hoops were originally silver. My kit circa 1954/55 has silver BD hoops. Not sure when they changed it to black, hum?

OK then,

when in the 60's-70's did they switch from silver to black and then back to silver?

The Burgundy kit is circa 70-71,with black hoops,my Superstars have silver, and are circa 1975 or maybe 74,maybe even 73...

Curious minds want to know!
