Where to order wrap

How come a full sheet of wrap from Precision is only 54" long? The circumference of a 22" shell is around 71". You can wrap a 6 piece kit with one 4X8 sheet of veneer (not saying only use veneer just pointing out that there's a lot of waste with such an odd size).

ST drums in Germany have a great choice and offer a good service - good prices too. Obviously shipping to US will be more, but they may have what you need.

I'm going through this same problem! I am having a drum shop service guy wrap my drums in 'champagne sparkle'. He told me that he just orders directly from Delmar.

The problem is the inconsistency of the wrap. Because of the copper and whatnot, sometimes it goes very uneven in areas. But, he also said that the precision drum 'modern berm. sand' was a cool finish, but much darker than the traditional 'champagne' that people want. I called Precision, the only picture they would show me was the digital image on their site...booo.

I did call Jammin Sam. Asked about the champagne. He said he wasn't going to carry it because no one wanted to spend that kind of money on the wrap. I told him I was ready to drop some money on it and to get me a price. He fired back in a nasty sarcastic voice of $1200 for the wrap!! The other prices were around $750-850, when I asked him why he was so much higher, he said 'you wanted a price, I gave you one'. Needless to say, I won't be having them do any work for me.

As for DrumMaker, I have ordered parts. Fast shipping, never let down.

I was just told that drum maker has a COLOR wrap that comes in sparkle and pearls, they offer hundreds of tint for these two popular patterns, I suggest you check it, this is where I may end up buying mine..........

Hey Kevin

I called precision rap company last week and they sent me a swatch of the color I was looking for. Here is there email "Precision Drum Company, Inc." . You may have better luck through email.

Also here is a link to interstate. http://www.interstatemusic.com/

I hope this helps.

Kevin,

Below are some pictures comparing the old "champagne sparkle" with Precision's new "Modern Bermuda Sand." The new is definately darker, and the sparkles and the pattern are not as dense. It also has a white backer layer, and the old stuff (that I've used) was the same all the way through.

You can see why when I was younger this wrap was sometimes called "pink champagne." The new stuff has lost it's pink. However, I saw a new Gretsch Catalina Jazz set at a Guitar Center in this new stuff last fall and I didn't realize it wasn't the same. So, I don't think you could get by if you're trying to match other older drums, but if you were just looking to do a new rewrap my opinion is that it's close enough IF this is what you're wanting. At this point I'm planning on ordering enough to do a 4-pc set in the very near future.

When I got this sample from Precision, I was told that Delmar had a few sheets of the older available and at that time I was quoted a price of $250 per 24x54 sheet. That was about a month ago. I'm sure if you email them they'll send you a sample. IF my memory serves me correctly, a full sheet of the new is $108. Get with them on that, though.

The other older sample I have pictured I actually got from Jammin Sam just this last week. I had a snare drum project to do and he just happened to have a piece big enough for me. It wasn't cheap. That's when he told me he wasn't going to carry the new stuff (see my first post in this thread). The piece in the picture was cut off from what I needed.

Gee, I hope all of that made sense...

Hmmm... That tells me nothing.

Why do they sell eggs by the dozen?

Hmmm...same answer.

Besides, this stuff is for free, including humor... you may have to wade through some fun to find your freebies, man....;)

You can buy the stuff pre-cut if you'd rather pay more.... none of those pesky scraps laying around that way.

None left for small repairs either, though.

Peace

I realize I can buy pre-cut to size, and if I were buying it thats what I'd buy. I was just wondering why they don't cut it more user friendly in full sheets. It's no big deal just curiosity.

As far as eggs, you can use all 12.
