I just bought a 60' premier in blue oyster and it's actually one of the best preserved wraps I've seen, here's another one currently on e-bay, the blue seems to age particularly well.
What causes cracking of Premier wrap?
Speaking about the Aquamarine, I agree with you that it's one of the most beautiful finishes out there. As a matter of fact, there is a full kit for sale on Ebay.uk for weeks now and nobody seems to buy them. If only I lived in the UK, I would be all over that kit.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Premier-Vintage-Aqua-Marine-1960s-Drum-Kit-/370579390808?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Drums_Percussions_MJ&hash=item564840c158#ht_4534wt_178
Stedi, buy it if you like - a courier is not that expensive, less than 100£.
But the reason this kit hasn´t sold is that is pretty expensive compared to other kits. Double price at least.

From my understanding, the "Duroplastic" had this problem. I could be wrong, and often am, but that seems to be what some of true Premier pros seem to allude to. If it is not Duro, then I am, again, wrong! Welcome!
No, you are right. Mahogany Duro also has problems with cracking.

Just shows the - understandable - difference in prices between UK and US. A kit like this would probably be 300£ in the UK. Maybe a little more, but not much.

Hi Jon,
You mean that normally a kit like this would go for 300 Pounds, including a Royal Ace, double floor tom and the original wrap ???
... hard to believe.
Let me know when you see one. Cool Dude
I did check and for this weight, a weekend courier from Belgium to UK would be very expensive.
Jon is right.
If you watch ebay UK regularly, you'll confirm it.
The reason is simple, as stated before: Premier = made in UK and they most probably sold the majority of their kits on that island. So the market rules it: many kits offered on one single market = low prices.
So what makes the difference to us foreigners?
We're living not in UK ... and the charges for shipment to USA/ continental Europe have to be added.
It's all about location ...

That's it Ralf. Here, in California the shipping can make or break a deal easily. If an item is on the east coast, you have to really want it or have gotten the item very cheap.
As far as wrap goes, here it's mostly weather. I'm in central California, the weather is really dry with hot summers. If you have a fragile wrap you should not leave it in the garage or it will come apart. Vintage Asian wraps, the thin ones, are the most easily destroyed.

From my experience,... 80% of Ebay.UK sellers refuse to ship entire kits, in particular outside the UK. The pro's do most of the time but prices are accordingly.
Shipping to Belgium or Germany won't cost more that 100 Euro, I could live with that.
If you received the drums from a courier cracked it could very well be down to the cold weather. If a box is sitting in a freezing cold warehouse the wrap could easily contract and crack.
