But doesn't this go against the keepin it old mantra? Not trying to start nothin' here, but this goes against the cardinal rule here: don't change nuffin', cos it will earn you 50 lashes with a wet noodle!!!!

Bunny,

I'll take the lashes with a wet noodle if the drums sound better. You can always store your vintage hardware and rubber tips if you need to sell or want a photo of e vintage look.

While the shells of yesteryear were great, once cannot ignore the fact that we have made a lot of technological advances in the past 50 years. Many of those advances have been to address real issues and the result is something that is better. Nothing wrong with that.

I just ordered a set. I like that they ship free and I could use my paypal account and I didn't have to sign up to have an account with that company selling. That took me less than 2 minutes. I am excited to hear the difference!

got 2 sets last night, I have 2 16" floor toms, boy these things make the toms really sing, I agree you can put the original stuff away in case you want to part with your vintage stuff later, but enjoy the sound that these things do for you vintage toms

ec - post a review when you get em bro.

blackD - It blew my mind how much difference something as stupid as rubber feet can make in the sound of a drum. It's amazing.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

John, the product description says they are for 10.5mm legs. How good do they fit on your vintage stuff? All my old Luddy tom legs measure @ 9.5mm.

With regards to making the rubber feet fit, one could always add a bit of electrical tape to the leg first. Perhaps a better method might be to add a bit of heat shrink tubing prior to putting the feet on. Either way, it would not be that tough to clean the legs up when you wanted to restore them to standard vintage.

Oh yeah. The heat shrink tubing thing is a great suggestion. I've got lots of that stuff here at my shop.
