My get back into drumming kit were some old PDP shells that came without floor tom legs, so I bent a couple pieces of rebar and was using them w/o rubbers. I really could tell the tone changed when it bounced off the rubber mat and onto the bare concrete in my basement. I could only imagine what tone changes could be made with these rubber feet.

Thanks Purdie Shuffle. Been meaning to pick up some of these - heard, (on this forum) that they're especially good for opening up straight leg floor toms.

For four bucks you don't have to 'imagine'! It really makes a remarkable difference in the sound of any floor tom or bass drum. It's like the drum comes alive when you put the new air-cushioned tootsies on. Like getting a new/better drum than what you started out with. I'm hooked on them. They go on every kit I play automatically. I buy them by the dozen and when those run out... I buy some more. Best thing to happen to drums in ages.

if in doubt, you can tap on your floor tom as is and listen to the sound. then lift it slightly off the ground with one hand and tap it with the other hand. you can usually hear a big difference. if so, these feet will help that situation a lot.

You bet! Try a set on your bass drum spurs as well. My drums sing because of those little feet. Mike is correct, the air cushioned feet open up the sound of the drum in a very dramatic way. You'll see. I highly recommend these if you don't already use them.

You are absolutely right on this (as you are on so many things). I always tune my drums on a table and once the heads are 'cleared' and pitched where I want them, I hold the drum in the air and give it a good thwack to hear what it sounds like. Once that is all dialed in i place the drums on the kit. The first time a set a floor tom up without rubber feet of any kind I was shocked at how bad it sounded compared to what it sounded like moments before in my hand. I pulled out three Gibralter air cushioned feet and the difference was astounding.

I've said this before and I know a lot of you will disagree, but the same thing is true (but for a different reason I believe) when you mount that rack tom on a snare stand, however, i will jump off of that soapbox before I get pummeled. :2Cents:
