Very cool to have the old heads!! Nice memory for sure. Good tip on the bike shops. I have family and friends in LA who are going to go down to GC and try to get some better pics of the plates so I can get a better idea of size, etc.

The quest is on now!!!!

Thx again Mikey777.

First, OddBall, you're from Boston!?!?! Me too.

Second, great name. Donald Sutherland in "Kelly's Heroes".

Third, I believe this kit was only used in the Tommy film, not on stage. It's a great color.

Here's a rough mock up of the Maltese Cross mounting plate made of plastic card. I have a friend who does vintage car repair and restore who is going to fabricate the plates for me. Cool.

How does this look for size?

Born and raised in Boston !!

I found that callsign catchy and fitting !!

That color is ugly and probably why Kieth wouldn`t be seen with it !!

What are you going to do with the finnish ? Bass heads ?? Will you have an extra FT on the snare side, for crib notes and drink table like Kieth did ???

The cross on the BD with double tom mount doesn`t support anything. There`s nothing there but a badge !!

They got that set up azz backwards,...the badge goes on the front of the BD, and all keys should face the player if they have them !!

Keith should have played Phonics,...life behind the kit would be easier !!

Mikey777, it seems your handiwork has moved across town from the GC in LA to the Grammy Museum in LA.

Two of my sisters (without knowing the other was doing so) stopped by and took some pics for me. A few are posted here including some close ups of the odd mounting plates for the toms and the kick spurs . . . really love to know where these things came from.

Lee, Let me get out my note book i have on these sets.Their are two sets of these drums one was only used in "Tommy" the other set was also used but played on stage.By the photos you posted the tom on the right is set up wrong on the bass drum it should be turned around the other way thats way their are two tom mounts on the drum the badge would face Mr.Moon i do recall one of the sets that i worked on had two tom mounts on the right bass drum thats way the tom-{single one}- had two mounts on it.This would be to hold the single tom closer to the other two toms on the other bass drum. Also in the photo the bass drums should be closer together not that far apart..As you called the bass pieces "Crosses" the pieces at the spurs are like "Stars" like..Just give me a few days i will get my notes out...Mikey

Thanks Mikey777.

Ya, the Museum looks like they could use some help. See the sign posted below which is full of inaccuracies. Ie they say the stands are Rogers, when clearly they are Premier's. And the kit was not used to record Tommy but rather was used in the filming of Tommy.

Anyway, yes the spur mounts look like space-age stars and the tom mount looks like a cross, or a shark or who knows what. They look like they may have been hand crafted, but I think they were on more than one of KM's kits, so maybe they were produced in quantity.
