Hello guys.

Now you can see what I found in my den reserve...

This is materialized spirit out of DDR from Altenburg 1979. :)

Now this company is revived.

These CONRAD heads were most popular at former socialist area. Its have a plastic skin moulded to PVC-rim with metal wire inside it.

Perhaps it's surprise to imagine, but some of guys still storing a lot of them -- new in different sizes and sometimes these rarities possible to see in selling on drummers sites.

This bottom snare head was no used and it has an instruction in Russian inside unopened PE-pack. :)

Enjoy it.

George.

George, So cool love the head.Alittle side note back in the 60s alot of the drum heads that you would fine on all M.I.J. sets were the same type of head almost made the same way. They were made like this the plastic head with two metal rings that the head pass throw then around the plastic head and 2 rings they used a piece of rubber plastic ring to hold the head in place..I have a few of these heads used in my collection of heads..Mikey

Ho-oh! Your description is similar to soviet EPOIMI heads construction -- the plastic head pass into opened brass ring with inner rubber gasket and then roll-over-flanged.

But such Engels factory's heads were not made from mylar -- from HS PETH only.

Mikey, if I'll find more time to continue my old theme about EPOIMI (as some of archeoposters...) then I would describe that heads too.

Most of the DDR drums that I have, came with similar heads on one or both ends.Strangely , they are all inch sized drums , except some of the very early 50's models and they had calf on them. I find that odd. In West Germany, it makes sense because they were trying to market into English speaking countries and most of them were still using the Imperial system but in East Germany, most of their market must have been Communist and are they not almost all metric countries? and why is the label in English, with a Russian instruction sheet? Who was that head being marketed to ?

The one Epoimi(?) drum I have is an inch sized drum, fitted with the very same snare head( I think).
