Re-furbished Star set...finally

Loading...

Hey all,

Finally finished refurbishing my old Star/Majestic drum set. Took me long enough, but other projects kept coming up - something to which I'm sure others on the forum here can attest.

They look great, though! And sounds pretty decent too! I'll be trotting them out for the next gig I play, I think...

Wow! What a fantastic job! Those Stars are beautiful!! As many on The Forum know, I am a bit partial to these old beauties but, this kit is simply incredible!! It certainly was worth the time!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys.

My only complaint so far, actually, is regarding the bass drum spurs - they're not particularly steady. I assume this is just something we have to live with for these MIJ stencils?

Does anyone have any tips for making the bass drum more solid?

You can try a hoop anchor!

Yeah, a number of outfits make them. I have an old set of W & A's and a newer Gibraltar set of front hoop spurs. In the old days, we used to use some light rope and tie the bass to the throne, but the front spurs are cleaner looking...

Great restoration job! Those are real beauties!
