Re-furbished Star set...finally

From Lingontega

You can try a hoop anchor!

There are also some very good hoop-mounted spurs available from Gibraltar and the like-- no drilling required, and you still get something more reliable in the way of bass drum stability. I personally wouldn't trust those factory MIJ spurs for a full-blown gig setting where Murphy's Law always seems to prove itself in the sometimes interesting performance of hardware.

Wow, again, so many thanks for all the kind words, guys - makes me feel great!! : )

Here's how they started life (one of the toms has since been donated - they were both 13"):

Admittedly, they weren't too beat up to begin with, but they certainly were dirty and unloved...

And thanks for the bass drum spur/hoop clamp suggestion. I'll track down a pair of those, I think. I bet it does the job.

Also, if anyone has a line on a cymbal stand for that bracket on the bass drum, let me know...no idea where to find one of those.

Thanks again for all the encouragement, guys! Makes me want to track down a second set now...

Bammboooo! This finish is just great.

And, personally spoken, I would slightly turn the oval badge to make it look in line.:)

The cymbal-L-arm can be bought separately here in Germany from:

(Make sure that the diameter fits into your bracket.)

Hi, Ralf!

Speaking of badges, when I first purchased my Stars and two Star stencil kits, the badges on all three bass drums were turned so that the drummer could read them. This has always seemed a bit strange. I would have expected that they should have been turned toward the viewer. I know that they were not adjusted by a previous owner. Two of the three badges were fixed in place quite securely. Any ideas, Ralf? Thanks.

If you really want to keep the original appeal and look and feel of a vintage kit, grab one of these. They stop bass creep on both wood and carpet. I keep a couple of them around for good measure!

Nice set you got there. A buddy of mine has a Star set but it's in pieces.
