I was fortunate enough to get one of their 13x7 Brass Patina Snares before they outsourced them overseas. Great snare!...been my go to for years. It really makes me sad seeing a company that built their rep on the "Built By An American" slogan, do this kind of crap! But, it's business 101...if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. The most difficult part of finishing the Walnut Stave kit I'm building is being able to afford the parts. I decided from the beginning that it was going to be a "All U.S." built parts kit. The cost of doing this is unreal!...the only U.S. made metal hoops are S-Hoops, which is no problem for me because I really like them...But, try finding some U.S. made Tension Rods! Very Frustrating!

I am more frustrated with the "built by an American" slogan than anything. While I am not happy about the outsourced stuff, I realise that there are too many components that we can't avoid being made somewhere else.

Hopefully, you can afford to buy the parts before the U.S. made parts dry up!!!

Pork Pie has US made products and imported products.

The imported ones do not say "made by and American" on them.

The biggest problem is the laws that regulate what constitutes "Made in America", "Made in Canada" etc.

Only a certain percentage of the finished item needs to be sourced here to qualify. As long as it is put together here, and has at least the required percentage of locally sourced components, it can say Made in USA.

At least our laws are less liberal than, say Italy's laws- a bicycle only had to be painted and assembled in Italy to be called a "Made in Italy" bicycle.

I feel a bit better about my purchase, but I think the Pork Pie guys still need a bit of static thrown their way. Maybe not holding their feet to the fire, but a little static.
