Pork Pie Percussion...Made by an American

Except for the hardware their throne is on!!!! I sh** you not- that slogan is on the sparkle vinyl side portion (nice and comfy- my co-workers said the purple sparkle with Leopard print top was "stripper-licious") ; yet the tripod portion is clearly made in China.

Part of me wants to return it. But part of me wants to make a stink with Pork Pie's management, first...

I know a few Americans who work in Chinese factories.

The seat portion is 100% American made, It is one of the best drummers throne I've ever owned.I have had this for 13 years 1000's and 1000's of playing hours on it, and it's still going strong. It's up to you what you decide.

If the seat portion is U.S. made, then I am okay. I just don't like false advertising, you know?

I will probably get a U.S. made tripod for the bottom or see if Jim Petty could make me a canister using the Pork Pie seat as the topper. The seat definitely feels like a good seat and would belie the "made in China" stigma.

As I say- I live in America, and I want people to be able to afford my goods and services. They can't afford my goods and services when they don't have a job.

By next year, my household fleet will be completely American cars made by a company that didn't take a bail out (and thusly move a factory to Mexico). Yes, my next vehicle will be a Ford.

Name one product that doesn't have at least something from china in it.

Almost everything has some content from china. Sad but true.

There is not one drum manufacturer making stands in the states. Danmar makes some flat based stands that they say are made here but I would bet that at least one part is from China.

I know, so many components are made in China. I wanted to make a professional-only blow dryer with U.S.-made switches, etc. and have it 100% user-serviceable with precision bearings, etc.. Finding U.S.-made switches is very, very difficult. The motor isn't that hard to get (though it's getting tougher). I was going to do my own carbon fibre case, but the fabric would be made in either Hungary or China. Ugh!!! I also don't know if hairdressers and barbers would be willing to buy a $750 blow dryer, even though they would never have to completely replace it!!! Note that a "high quality (my foot)" pro dryer is around $200-300 and they last about 1.5 years.

Maybe I have to find an older U.S.-made throne base, or have Jim Petty make the canister base for me, even though the latches would probably be made in China.

I guess I am more disappointed in the "made by an American" slogan stamped on the seat, but "made in China" on the base.

thin shell, unfortunetly sad but true. I remember the first time I went to the Monroe NC Ludwig plant, I asked the plant manager, do you make any metal parts any longer. His reply was yes we make the metal band that goes around the drum heads, when we got to the back of the plant to my horror there was Big box after box of made in china parts, each box proudly proclaiming Made in CHINA.It broke my heart.

I knew that things like lug casings haven't been made in the U.S. for about ten-fifteen years. It's truly sad...
