Drum Cooler

Yes, I had decided that in my Mongrel Premier kit that the 12" x 11" APK tom that was freshly wrapped needed a new purpose. Basically, since I decided to use the original barn fresh 13x9" tom, the APK became redundant.

I am not looking to cool down a "bucket" of bottles (much less a 12 pack or something!), I just want to keep a bit of ice and a bottle/can or two handy so that my re-beering person doesn't have get me a new drink every five minutes. s/he can get me two at a time!!! I have a Vater drink holder for the one I want to drink...

My thought is to spray bed liner paint into the interior of the shell for ultimate water protection. Then I buy some pink foam board insulation, cut out a bottom, then cut little "staves" to line the inside. I could use liquid rubber to seal the interior from leaks. This is why I ask "y'all" (sounds strange from my mouth).

Anyone done this? Any tips?

Thanx in advance!!!

Any tips? Those go to your bartenders and waitresses.

I just saw a commercial with a guy in a row boat, with a screen door bolted into the bottom of it. He sprayed the door with Cuvre and viola, the boat floats! I think that stuff will work as a nice tom-cooler-sealer. I saw it on TV, so it has to be true!

If you act now, they'll send you two cans (plus shipping and handling for the second can), for.....wait for it..........$19.95. Plus more shipping and handling. (Offer not valid in Alaska and Hawaii - they hate us. Please have your credit card {or someone else's} handy when ordering.) If you call before midnight, tonight, we'll send you a case of it and a Shamwow. If you call really, really quickly, we'll also send you 15 Snuggies - it's gonna get cold soon.

PS - B-man, you're a man after my own liver. Love the idea!!

Go to your local HVAC supply house and get some of the black, foam-rubber insulation. It's got the density similair to a Tepur-Pedic mattress. It comes in several thicknesses, it's flexible so you can line the wall of the shell with one piece & it's easy to cut. We use this stuff on turbocharged air/ice water intercooler resivoirs.

That's a bad a$$, original idea for an unuseable drum shell! I think I've got one here somewhere...

Thanks!!!!!

I am leaving the lugs on. Yes, it gives me fewer usable lugs for an upcoming kit, but it's worth it!!!

Can I caulk this foam?
