Hi all,

I've noticed some off you have experience with Amedia cymbals!!

Just wanna say, these are not your typical "made-in-turkey-mass-production"cymbals :p

I visited the Amedia workshop in Istanbul last summer, and it was awesome!!

They have more than 27 series but none off them are cheap, stamped cymbals! They do all have their own character and they are all hand hammered by well-trained(,friendly and proud :p) cymbalsmiths.

If you're looking for cymbals made by old tradition, Amedia is the place to go!

I'm not associated with Amedia in any way (altough i wouldn't mind an endorsmentship:p), i'm just telling this because the visit to the workshop left me flabbergasted and i have tons of respect for the dedicated people that create these wonderfull cymbals!!

An old K can't be reproduced, but there are still cymbals made with the same passion!!

Spread the word... ;)

Dennis

I totally agree. I have owned several of these cymbals over the years, and they are great! I especially like the Vintage series. My favorites, though, are the first runs (when they didn't have different series--these became the Vintage series, I believe). I have a 22" ride that's absolutely KILLER! Dark, smokey, expressive. One of my friends has some hats that makes me want to slip some cyanide in his Diet Coke.

VERY nice cymbals!

Yeah, nice review! Yes Sir

Did you buy something?

If I have a chance, I would like to go to Turkish boutiques in Istanbul or another area in Turkey. Until now, I've tried Amedia Classic & Ahmet legend series, while they are heavy and pingy to me. I've never have a chance to play Vintage series. Probably, that is the one I want.

Amedia is a nice cymbal maker.

I have a 16" vintage series crash and a 14" vintage series hihat, they are INCREDIBLE!!

I'm looking to get a ride aswell ;)

There are over 32 cymbal workshops in Istanbul, but Istanbul is BIG so you'll have to be selective... Amedia is definitly recommended :p

If you'd like to visit them just give them a call, the one answering the phone will most likely know english lol

We were the first real visitors they had and they were very friendly and proud to show their skills!! :)

I wouldn't go to the boutiques, they are tourist traps!

But there is a big street in Istanbul with only music shops where you can find real quality stuff! If you have the chance to go, hit me up! I have lots of usefull info ;)

Thanks, Dennis!

Your crew was the first visitor to Amedia? Sounds cool!

32 cymbal workshops in Istanbul? Diril, Supernatural, Agean, Istanbul agop, Mehmet, Turkish, Masterwork, Bosphorus, Saluda, Murat Diril, Anatolian, and then... I cannot count them.DOH

If I have a chance, I'll ask you. As you told, they are seemingly tourist traps!

If anyone has questions on them, or even wants help picking some out, feel free to email me: kschwallie@hotmail.com Oh, and our 5th line of cymbals will be arriving Oct. 31st (Meinl Cymbals).

These cymbals do sound great. I have a couple of friends who have dumped their entire Zildjian or Paiste set ups for Amedia.

Dominick, the US distributor, is a great guy and hell of a nice guy also!

Now somebody is really talking my language! I am have put together a great little set of Amedias here in Japan ( they are not cheap here by any means) I keep this set for special shows when I want that crystal transparent and pure sound to sing through. I have modern K Zildjian set ups and K. Constantinoples, great Paiste Trads. and Istanbul Mehmets- the Amedias are like a secret weapon of pure cymbal sweetness- such a clear, clean tone-

Pictured here are 20" Amedia Classic Jazz Ride, Amedia Legend 16" crash, and 14" Amedia Classic hats. I will never sell these cymbals- keepers they be. I am not exaggerating - these cymbals drive me crazy.

For Japan- the negatives are the high prices and limited selection. I would like a 20" ride from their Komogenes line- maybe next year. I was able to test the full line of Komogene and Legend recently- worth saving for.
