The price is not that bad, but there appears to be some issues with the shells. I would ask the seller to clean off the crud and take some additional photos BEFORE I would send one red cent. Stainless steel (and/or chrome) do not take well to stains of this type. Simply wiping the surface may not show the extent of the true damage, and if I were selling these drums, it would seem to me that a quick rub down in order to increase my chances of selling them would be the very first thing I could do to increase those chances...So, the surface damage may well be un-repairable, and therefore render this kit no more than a re-wrap candidate...if one could get the metal wrap off without damaging the shells beyond a usable state....

I know, I am the last one to make these types of observations, but most people don't have the skills to make the repairs that make them recyclable. I do, but then I am just so cool and special that they gave me my own school bus, a really cool, short one that only went to a few houses to pick up my other "special friends"....

Please, don't take this seriously. My son has special needs and this is only a tongue in cheek response to a poorly displayed ad.

Those are Vari-Pitch, with chrome-over-wood (Acousticon??) and not terribly desirable. I have a Vari-Pitch snare in pristine condition, and it's a fairly useless drum.

Well, those are mine. I asked my friend to sell them since I was buried with a ton of other projects. They do indeed need some work, but they aren't insurmountable.

My suggestion was only intended to keep someone from getting a SNAD complaint. Ya know? I think only my stupid brain works this way, but putting a little hint in the ad about the permanence of the stains could stop that sort of thing from happening.

Also, I think those shells are all fiberglass. I don't think there is any wood at all in the shell. I'll check tomorrow when I look 'em over. I bought those in July and dropped them off since I was literally running out of space in my garage to work on stuff... I'll look them over and get some better pix up for you folks to gander at.

Until then Kev - I really don't want to answer yet since I really don't remember. The shells are NOT pristine at any rate.

...oh, the shells I am not sure about, but I don't think they would be "Accousticon" as I do believe only the "Remo" branded stencils were allowed to use them due to trademark laws....I would not put money on it, but I do think Remo Belli had the trademark for those shells, if they are the real "Accousticon" material. But then again, I ain't the brightest candle on the cake either....

If those are the fiberglass shells, they will sound really good (and loud), and to kev, if not wood, then the wrap would be a lot less labor intensive to get off. If they are wood, then Pearl would have used glue all over the place and it would not give up the ghost easily. They are chrome over".....", so the gluing is what would be the biggest factor in maintaining the structural integrity of the surface on the shell, kinda like those Slingerlands you stripped a couple years ago. (or was that the copper kit...?)
