Hi All.

Totally new to the forum...

A local guitar-shop have a beautiful old "Tigers Eye" Pearl set on display. I sorta might wanna buy it, if it wasn't so incredibly pricey!! $1100 almost!

I'm sure I could knock a few hundred off of that...

They advertise it as a 1964 Pearl set - that's it! - but i'm having a hard time confirming this.

Could someone in here take look at them and tell me what they see?

When are they from?

What Line?

What's the going rate for something like those?

...and all else you might wanna share :-)

A few links for pics...

It's a nice late 60's kit in good original shape. Pretty sure the drink holder is an add on:p The price is high. In the States it would be worth around $300, here in New Zealand about $400US. I'd say $1100 is ambitious even for Denmark where I'm assuming they're a bit harder to come by.

That double tom mount puts that set more around 1969.But that price is at least double what they are worth (market value).I suppose this boils down to what you are getting for $1100.An MIJ set from '69 in excellent shape and mostly complete.I've said it before, people pay $2500 for tin toy rockets from the 50's.Is it's purpose mostly decorative,or a gigging kit?I would say no-one on this forum would pay $1100 for that set.

Agreed. Not a dime over 300 in the states. I wouldn't pay that even here because they are up for sale so often.

there just not good enough quality to pay that, entry level kits in the 60's remind me of my first kit in 64

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

Venligst

Jon

Hi again,

thanks for all your replies!

I obviously don't know my vintage Pearl-drums nearly as good as anyone else here :-) I guess if they knock a substantial amount of dollars off of that price - i might still be interested. It's a set unlike most of the other sets you'll see on the used-market in denmark so I still kinda like it. Thanks for taking your time to help me out!

@ Jon -

Tak for svaret.

Welcome!

Although I know that Denmark is a high-priced area for many products, that asked price is far too much.

If you are looking for a vintage drumset, you may find it here:

http://www.drums-direkt.de/de/angebot_drumsets.php

... and one appeal:

Please, don't speak in official posts in a foreign language - you may choose PM (private messages) to exchange private information this way. Thank you ;)

That's a good link Ralf. The 70's Pearl kit they have is much better priced http://www.drums-direkt.de/de/angebot_details.php?type=drumset&id=0403. There's probably only a couple of years difference in age and at less than $400usd it's reasonably priced. Sure, there's no snare or hardware but that won't be difficult to find quite cheaply.

Of course, I shall keep to the common language from now on.

It was just a pleasant surprise to see another fellow dane here.

My danish blabber only amounted to saying that the US prices of around 300 $ max doesn´t really apply in Denmark - and to recommend the excellent danish forum trommeslageren.dk

Regards

Jon
