Girls on drums

Hey guys, everyone knows that the almost drummers are men. There are few girls that play. I would like to know if do you know women that are leaving the men to back in the drums subject.

I am a super fan of Vera Figueiredo ( She has a band with only girls, in Brazil)

Karen Carpenter... could play her a$$ off. And sing at the same time! Which is something I cannot do. I always had great respect for her talent.

There may be a lot more female drummers than we realize. I used to teach in schools a few years back and the ratio of girls to boys was around 50/50. How many of these carry on to take it up more seriously I can't tell, but my local(Bristol,UK) scene has quite a few jobbing female players. An incredible player, Daisy Palmer, who was one of the girls who played for years around here now has the seat with Goldfrapp.

There was a band whose name was Velvet Elvis and they had a HOT female drummer!!!! Can't remember her name...

Edit- it was an '80s alternative band, not the one that comes up in a Google search now...

Cindy Blackman comes to mind. Also, Hannah Ford. Both are Gretsch players. Hmmm. Guess they're very smart, too. (Hee, hee)
