'66 Pearl 4 piece

Loading...

I'm curious about this kit? I got a guy interested in trading one of my guitars for this kit. I don't know the exact sizes, just that it's a 4 piece and silver sparkle. I would appreciate any info on Pearl drums from this year? Are they well built (obviously they could be in crap condition now, I'm waiting on pictures) are they valuable? Thanks!

If you are trading a 57 Goldtop, no. Get pix and come back so we can give the real deal.

oh hell no. If it were a '57 goldtop that thing would not be leaving my sight. He's supposed to send me pictures today. I'll post them as soon as I can. I'm just listed a white gibson flying v signed by hetfield yesterday on CL for trade for a complete drum set. he hit me up. I know the Ludwig's and Roger's kit's from '66 are real nice. And if Pearl was doing what japanese guitar companies were doing in the 70's and 80's then they're likely very similar and basically "clones".

Oh come on, you know I was jacking with you. It's decent little kit and you both know your threshold. The truth is, if they are full on Pearl, and they appear to be, not one of the stencils, they will hold they're value. And the gold wrap is pretty cool, or is it what we call "gingered ale" silver sparkle? Look them over carefully, play them and if they work out, good on ya.

Drums are what they are, like guitars. The sound is in each of our ears. I sold a drum set I still haven't built, but I have a really good rep for building. So, the question is, do you like the way they sound?

It's all in your taste and your ears. Those are decent, not top shelf drums. So what is you V worth? That is the question you need to answer. Those are 66 Pearls, not a lot of them out there. If you feel it's a fair trade, do it. Because there could be $500 worth of cymbals in the deal. Know what I mean?

I would never pay 500$ for any luan kit that I couldn't see inside the drums to check the wood- luan can dry rot and also collapse if it had been kept under a high tension for years and years. Those cymbals are probably all starter models and Wuhans it looks to me. It could be a great kit but look carefully and remember that the metal parts on a lot of MIJ drums was a plastic-metal that didn't age well. If the wood shells are still in good shape and the wrap is un-cracked and unscratched then maybe you could pay 350$ just for the drums... I wouldn't ask him for the cymbals and stands- you can get better easily. Just my two cents- best of luck. There are soooo many sweet kits in the world and 500$ buys a lot.

*** One additional thing- never trust poor quality photos for the sale of vintage drums- always demand clear and detailed photos before you buy.

The Pearl man has spoken...so it is, so it shall be. This man knows his Pearl lore, so take it to heart.

Show love to our Osaka! Yes Sir
