I purchased the Premier Heavy Rock Nine snare as a used piece in mint condition two years back. The snare with original badge was made in 1983 and is a combination of birch shell plies inside with a brass shell outside to get a unique characteristically tone. Since the original purchase I have changed the original hoops to a pair of die cast hoops and changed the heads to Remo three months ago- Emperor X on top and a clear ambassador snare head on the bottom; the Remo heads on this snare had little usage and abuse by me. To match my Slingerland color theme I had the die cast hoops powered coated and baked and the snare brass professionally refinished to a low sheen black finish. The refinish can take a real beating and has never flaked or peeled or show signs it ever will. This is a vintage and rare snare to come by and with the black finish made this snare appealing and unique for a Heavy Rock Nine.
I purchased the Slingerland shells as three separate pieces in the span of two years. The bass/kick drum is a 30x16 with the original 1963-1969 badge. I had the bass drum shell and hoops professionally refinished to a high grade nitrocellulose gloss black multiple coats color- the nitrocellulose paint really makes a difference in helping preserve the natural sound of the wooden shells. The heads on the bass drum were changed three months ago to Remo Powerstroke 3 heads, hence have little use. This bass drum is in fantastic playable condition for its age and the refinish is beautiful. The 20x18 floor tom has the original early 1970s badge. The wrap is in good condition with only a few average scuff marks, yet it really is no eye sore, still in the original Black Beauty wrap. I change the heads three months ago to Remo Emperor top and Ambassador bottom. The 16x16 floor tom has the original late 1970s to early 1980 badge. The wrap is in good condition with only a few average scuff marks, yet it really is no eye sore, still in the original Black Beauty wrap. I change the heads three months ago to Remo Emperor top and Ambassador bottom. All that is missing is a tom tom, which I never purchased for the kit.
I purchased the Piaste 2002 cymbals all brand new less than a year ago for $1314.40, excluding CA tax. The cymbals are all in great condition, never abused and with little usage. They barely have any stick marks and appear to be in store like condition than as used cymbals. As an entire set these cymbals all sounded great and create a massive wall of sound with each other. Please check out Piaste.com for sound samples and descriptions.
I purchased all the DW hardware brand new less than a year ago for $1,030.00, excluding CA tax. All the pieces are functioning correctly and look great with minimal signs of wear and abuse. This bundle of DW hardware covers everything you need in hardware for a drum set from kick pedal to snare and cymbal stands to the hi hat stand.
