Sonor Jazz Kit

Loading...

I have a guy wanting a vintage Ludwig Kit and has a Sonor jazz kit to trade. The sizes are 12-14-18. They have a natural finish and the badge says "genuine Rosewood Veneer" They have slotted tension rods and are heavy as hell. I took a few pics of the tom. Does anyone know anything about this kit?

Thanks

I'm no expert, but I believe those to be Phonics. I've always lusted for these drums, particularly in Rosewood. And jazz sizes to boot? I'd make the trade!

They`re 80`s Phonic. Not a very sought after finnish but very sought after sizes. You`ll love them. They will re-sell immediately !! Looks like oak finnish. You`ll probably have to re-foam the lugs cuz they dry out after 20 yrs.+ !! The Snap-lok system will never roll back on ya and they`ll stay tuned for eva !! (after stretching of course)

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

All the metals are heat treated, copper plated then chromed. The hoops are feromanganeese tripple flange.

I meant no disrespect by the trash/treasure comment. For me, since I already own a classic Ludwig, I think I would like a crack at those Sonors. Back when I was in high school they had those old 80's catalogs which showed the guy standing on the shell. I wanted some Phonics so bad. All I knew was that Steve Smith played them and I loved his sound and tone. Remember the Separate Ways video where the drums disappear? Nicko McBrain played them too. Then I found out Jack Dejohnette played them too and so did a lot of really great players. I love that finish and the jazz bop sizes.
