Another MIJ find - Bollero

Picked up this kit a few weeks ago, extremely clean and great sounding. 22", 16" 12" 13", original silver sparkle wrap. Must be a late 60's or early 70's Tama or Pearl fabrication.

Beautiful Pearl built set w/"battleship"lugs.That double mount was not made for very long-switched to the set up with two seperate hex holes in the bass.I have never seen that badge or that silver-blue sparkle with other flecks mixed in.Those should be in the data base for reference.

Hi,

Nice, very nice.

Can you, please, make a close-up pic of the badge for us? Are the hardware parts (hihat, cymbal stands and bd pedal still genuine and in place?

Ralf

About a year ago, I lent my daughter's boyfriend $140.00 for a set of Bolero's with the identical badge. They were wrapped in shiny black...probably some exotic name. I was under the impression that they were a "line", not a stencil of Star but, made by the same company. I may be wrong. If I don't receive any payment soon, I just might reclaim this old set!

Brian, they are definitely not made by Star. The double tom mount is something different from Star's of that era. Also the lugs are not Star-like.

(Just noticed that one of the bottom lugs of the floor tom is in another shape ...)

NB: $ 450 is far too much.:2Cents:

One lug was missing, I added a "pearl type" lug which has the same hole spacing as the original.

These drums sound great, they all have Remo CS batter heads on the toms, and what seams to be Remo CS Reso heads on the bottom.

The wrap is in great condition as is the chrome.

I'm sure that you're right, Ralf. I'm positive that on a thread I started that one of the experts told me they were a line of Star. I wish I could remember.
