I don't think so. Thats like saying theres a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They are dilusional. Either these posters think 1) what they own really is amazing, 2) they can fool someone into paying there asking price or 3) they don't know drums and are just selling an item they either found in someones basement or in the garbage.Just about everyone looking for drums on Craigslist knows what they are looking for and looking at. People still get burned but that happens when a seller is trying to mislead the buyer such as a seller I heard about who was making Vistalites and selling them as originals.
While this seller wasn't trying to sell new RCI shells as original Vistalites, he was well on his way. He was alluding that these POS CB700's were Gretsch drums!!!! Yes, you don't see that now on his ad, but he was trying to pull that wool over everyone's eyes. I guess that's REALLY why I skewered him that good- he was trying to sell CRAP as good product!!!!! While most of us wouldn't fall for it, a parent buying their aspiring drummer child a kit thinking that they were buying something interesting and possibly an UPGRADE could get snookered, and that would be BEYOND bad.
Another thought that came across is this: while it's one thing if someone tries to sell a "customised" kit well AFTER the fact, but it just kills me that someone thinks that their backyard rattle bomb job is professional. Maybe it was all the badly resprayed furniture on these "home redecoration" TV shows. I saw one of these "designers" rattle bomb a very nice piece of furniture on a show (after having the "carpenter" cut down the legs). And I am certain NO prep was given, which means the rattle bomb paint will scrape off and flake easily. Looks good on TV, but that's it.
