Restoring my 20's Ludwig snare Last viewed: 2 hours ago

And it's done!

Just took a small fabricated piece and an extra screw to make a small adapter plate to attach this WFL throw I already had to the existing holes. No mods to the shell or the throw.

Patina applied, actually darkening more day to day. Looks nice and old, just like I wanted it to!

Thanks,

Funny question to me. Of course I am playing it! That's why i have drums, to make noise with them!

Hey, Mountainhick! I also finished restoring an old Ludwig snare the other week and made a custom bracket to accommodate a newer (P-80) strainer. What did you use to add the patina to your drum? I love the vintage look of your shell. :)

Nice work.

I did not make a stand off bracket like yours, just a tab attached to the bottom of the throw from a piece of brass. It has one flathead screw countersunk flush going through the plate into the throw threads, and the original screw going from outside in and secured with a nut inside the shell. The top of the throw is shimmed out with two washers:

The patina is from a liver of sulfur gel
