i have my dream kit

I have many of my Dream kit's now to many to list .But i would love to get my hands on Mr. Moon's the drummer for "The Who" set.Got to re-store one of his kits for the G/S in Hollywood,ca in 1994 even got to play it at the store, two 22"s, three 14"s,two 16"s, two 18"s...Mikey

Well I would love to have a set of clean Radio Kings. Just like the set Buddy Rich ended his days playing. I can only presume that kit is still held in the Rich estate.

Another amazing kit to own I guess would be a beautiful late 50's Gretsch Bop kit. Just to have it set up at home in a corner brooding.

Maybe combine the 2 above in matching vintage Rogers or Camco shells. That would be lovely.

Otherwise I don't really hanker for some mega kit with 15 toms etc. Just a few sweet drums.

My actual dream SOUND in my head has never quite been achieved. I own and have owned many kit's(new and vintage). I have been and still am endorsed by a major and still not quite found THAT sound. Hmmmm thats the $1,000,000 question for me.

I dream up kits all of the time!!!! I have built or bought a few, some with great results, some not so stellar.

If I were to have a famous person's kit, it would be one of these:

1) Clem Burke's Resonators

2) Any of John Bonham's kits

3) Any of Phil Collins' kits

4) Any of Keith Moon's kits

5) Any of Alex Van Halen's kits.

I love your picks. I would have a problem playing Alex Van Halen's 1984 tour kit, though. That thing had 4 bass drums! With PA speakers in them!

Actually, AVH's kits had functional ports in the kick drums. Yes, he invented the Kickport long before it was invented...

I find it weird that I generally love the look of huge kits (Bonham and Burke being exceptions), but play a 4-5 piece (one up, one or two down) kits.

I'm pretty boring. I appreciate all the 50's and 60's Gretsch bop kits and love reading about and looking at the vintage Slingerland, Ludwig and Rogers kits. But my sentimental side leads me right back to the kit I grew up with - my 70's Gretsch walnut kit. Probably not the best or greatest, but we can never part. Could never think of it. I currently own two of these kits and I just love them; kind of like secretly loving dark wood paneling from the same era. Wish I could just rescue them all. I do not covet any other drums, though I can appreciate many of the vintage kits manufactured by all the great builders from the past. (I'm probably not helping this thread.)

Interesting to see whom loves what, though.

Oh, thanks man. 24" BD (a cannon, but not that great against the wall), 13", 16" & 18" (another cannnon) toms and matching 5x14 snare.
