once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I don't know what the heck is going on with me,but lately, every once in a while, I try to think of the perfect BD size, and 14" by 24" keeps popping into my head as "the one"...........
I would LOVE to do a Roots Rock/Americana gig with a OLD kit with 24" BD and very old A's with it...........20's BB snare too. All calfskins on all drums.
I've made it my passion to seek out and invest in my dream kits and I now finally have them after many many years of dreaming - see below - great post drowse 49

I am going to try a Premier marching kick I converted to a trap kick today. I hit it a couple of times and liked what I had heard. I miss my old Japanese Yamaha Stage Birch (circa mid '80s) and it had a 24" kick. Can't remember what depth it was, but it seems to have been no deeper than 16".

some of these'd be nice..lol
Those Sonors are really cool. I would love to have a kit like that for after practicing the book stuff and just going for it. Neil Peart shouldn't be the only one to play the perfect large kit. I love older Sonor stuff like Phonic Plus and the stuff they made in the 70's and 80's. Their catalogs always had the massive kits with all that great hardware. As long as you didn't have to set up it would be great.

I always end up going back to a 4 piece kit 'cos too much becomes too much!!!! From setting it up to playing it, I just always end up taking bits out until I end up with a one-up and one or two-down kit with five cymbals (two crashes, one ride and a pair of hats). I even get rid of splashes, chinas and cowbells!!!! The only thing I do end up keeping is the DrumKat, and half of it is 'cos it is what I trigger through!!!! I trigger samples I make of kits I either own or have tuned. It makes live sound sooooooooo much easier!!!

I think I would have to say a mint, vintage Trixon with the conical shells - really interested in these recently - would love to find one.
