LOL I can pretty much tell by looking at a roll, how much is there. I just give it a estimated guess as far as inventory goes.....

I have never stripped a BP drum, just restored some. I am sure the BP wrap is almost identicle to the Tolex as far as thickness and stiffness, but different grain. The Tolex matches the Levent grain excatly, but does not match the stretch of the levant. The Tolex is much thinner and has very little stretch, unless you heat it a little. If your not careful heating the Tolex it will ruin it. The levant vinyl top material is much thicker and has a fuzzy back on it and is very stretchy. Back in the old days it had very little stretch and didnt have the fuzzy back. Again Naugahyde is just a brand of Uniroyal rubber. . A company named Haartz makes all the Vinyl Top Levant grain vinyl as well as other grains of vinyl tops, and convertible topping. http://www.haartz.com/en/Products/Convertible_Toppings/automotive_exteriors.asp

Just an FYI....true Black Panther covering is a grained hard acetate (possibly pvc) type plastic wrap covering, not a flexible vinyl like you folks are discussing. It is pretty much made of the same thin wrap base that is used for the satin flame finishes, just a different color and pattern. You may be able to duplicate the look of it, but not the durability (and I use the word with a hint of restraint there, as any of us that own drums finished in black panther know this is a relative term.) As of this writing, I still have yet to get an answer out of anyone from Ludwig that was there when this finish was available as to who the actual supplier was. It would be nice to know if the company is still around to see if they'd be willing to tool up a run of it, but without the knowledge of who produced it for Ludwig, it will repain just a hope & dream I'm afraid.

Kind of, but not quite.....the grain texture on that appears to be too coarse....that may be more rigid than what standard wrap is like.....Black Panther wrap is flexible like the standard sparkle and pearl wraps, but textured on the outside with its distinctive grain. Also it's a little thinner than standard sparkle and pearl wraps are, more like the thickness of the satin flame wraps.....

Im thinking about selling these. Any idea what they might be worth???

I sold these for $1250. It was one of my favorite kits. I sold 5 kits. Now I can actually get in my drum room lol I paid $400 and all I spent was new heads, everything else was original.
