Listen to the Kev. He's wise beyond his yarns. eBay completed listings, a couple of online dealers and some opossum spit will net you the figure you seek. Now go. Begin the sojourn of value.

From LudwigLover

i would say more like $500-$800good luck!;)

More like $300-425 These are basically the same as the ones currently offered by Ludwig and you can get them NEW with a warranty for about $600 if you know where to look. An engraved one, now that's a dfferent story.

BTW, 1981 is NOT considered vintage. 1981 is of the modern era of drums. It's not rare, or all that valuable, or even collectible.....yet.....right now, its just used.

how do you know its from 81? kinda-sorta interested, but just wondering what they based his info on.

a short story on guitar center...

i've been working in the drum biz since 93 and drumming before that.the zildjian rep comes in the store i used to work at one day (which closed after 50 yrs due to the economy) and tells me the following:

"so i go into guitar center at_________(its a so cal store) and there's a new guy.so i introduce myself then start checking the cymbal inventory.while i'm working i hear the new guy say things like,"i don't know, let me find that out for you" and "how do i tune this?". after a few quibs like that i go over and ask how long he's been playing drums.he says "oh,i'm not a drummer,i'm a bass player.i just needed a job".

can you believe that s**t? and here i am with 17 yrs of music retail, drum building, drum tech, drum rep experience, stage work,drumming,etc...and in this economy i can't even get a crappy g.c. job!

Trust me, even in this economy, you don't want a crappy G.C. job! They don't pay anything, make you work long hours, and push you to "sell, sell, sell!", and if you don't you're gone! And besides, the stuff they carry....is J.U.N.K.!

I'd rather take the chance at opening my own drum shop in this economy rather than work for the "evil empire"
