The price Im asking was based on my local gutair center drum guy he told not to take less then 2500 but i had a hard time believing it was worth that much just a number i threw out there if any one makes me an offer it would taken under consideration im learning alot about this old drum of mine with every post please don t hold my ignorantce of vintage drums against me thanks The Band

I wouldn't trust anyone who works at Guitar Center about the value of "vintage" drums. Most guys who work there are young kids who know nothing about everything there. They are working for basically minimum wage plus commision, and chances are their knowlege on something made WELL BEFORE they were born will be slim.

I stand by my previous valuation (on the low side) due to the fact of the slow economy, and the fact that these drums are not that rare, valuable or collectible.

Like I stated before, I just bought a rather rare Ludwig bronze piccolo snare drum in near mint condition made in the mid-1990's for $150. (And it was from a shop that knew what they had!) These are much more rare than your black beauty, but again, not worht a whole lot. 1981 is just used....not considered vintage, or valuable, or even that collectible. You can't really guage the value of these off of ebay, because you need to take into consideration what years those were made as well. Ebay is the place where top-dollar still rules and sometimes people go nutz with a "I gotta have that" bidding war mentality. It's not a true way to judge the value of one of these 1980's drums, unless you take an average of what all those ebay drums ACTUALLY GOT. Asking prices, starting bids, etc. are not the same as completed SOLD listings.
