once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

bet the buyer will be suprised to find that snare is a rewrap. Possibly the bass drum too but the snare is for sure rewrapped.

I noticed the re-wrapped snare drum as well, convenient that the seller doesn't mention anything about it...

A few weeks ago I sold a OBP kit from 66 with original hardware and cymbals and matching jazzfest for over 7000. They still bring the bucks it seems.

Hello Vincent!! I asked the seller about the snare, they claimed they weren't able to tell a rewrap from an original, I assured them the snare was rewrapped. Just the blue shade is enough of a clue not to mention the oyster pattern...just like the wrap I have from Precision....too much blue.

They chose not to mention it and the set sells for a lot more listing it as a matching snare. Oh well............

The biggest amazement for me is the continued shock at what low levels people will reach for the all-mighty buck. People will continue to be people. The dude was flat out wrong ... no doubt. But, it is what it is. Guard. Trust few. Verify all. You won't come out totally clean, but you will have much less dirt than if you didn't.

According to Denny Seiwell he purchased Ringo's Shea Stadium kit from The Museum Of Famous People when it went out of business. He then used it on the RAM album along with one of his father's snares. I wonder where it is?

Never play it the same way once.

I received a phone call on a Monday from Bill Ludwig III whom I had met at the Chicago Drum Show and he asked me if I still had the Beatle rewrapped drum set that I had brought to the show. I said yes and he asked me if I could bring it to Chicago that week-end to the "Fest for Beatles" so that Denny Seiwell could use it. Gee Bill, let me think about this for a minute.....okay, sure! On Wednesday I get a call from Denny Seiwell and he asks me if the kit was a Downbeat or a Classic and I told him it was a Downbeat. He said don't bother because he was a big guy and the Downbeat was too small for him. I told him I had a Classic kit in my garage that was stripped and just needed to be wrapped and I could have it there by Sat. He said "do it" so I got humping on this set only to find out I was short a piece of wrap, specifically the bottom piece of the bass drum. I panickly called Precision and had them overnight ship me that piece and I finished the set, had to report to work Sat. morning to get a "turn around" and headed to Chicago. I'm 3 hours from Chicago. Denny called me 3 times while I was sitting in traffic wanting to know when I would get there. I got there while the "show" was going on and me and Denny brought the drums to the wing and when a break took place set them up on ther stage. The drums were played by every band that week-end. Both Denny and Bill loved the rewrapped kit and the wrapped Downbeat was set up at Andy Babiuk's booth for his display. He also told me that the wrap job was "spot on". I will admit I very much appreciated those comments from those three very highly regarded men. Attached are pics of those drums.
