Anyone play a 24" bass? I currently have 22s, but thinking of getting a 24x14

Currently play a 24" Slingerland 3-ply COW and love it.
In a live setting or for "loud" rehearsels, it gives me that bit of extra fire-power. Remo Powerstroke on both sides. Also played 26" but didn't like. I found it hard to manouver the toms around it and sometimes a pain to tune properly. |

Cool...
I'm looking to pick up a 3 ply with a 24...think it should be a nice addition. |

I've got six 24s, all 14" deep. I like the oomph I get from a 24, and the traditional depth keeps it controllable. Definitely a fan, but I love my 22 & 20" as well, just depends on the gig or sound I need that day.

That is rather convincing! This would be my first 24x14. Hopefully I can make it happen!

24x14 is a magical size.

Tried it but could,nt get used to it. It threw my set balance off,for me anyway. Im a 20-22x14,nothing smaller or larger. It sure made BR look like he was in charge though.

26 all the way for me and they are easy to tune if you use the right heads.... enjoy your 24 when ya get it but try a 26 if you have the chance...

My thoughts?
1. They must be harder to find heads for when on the road. 2. Tom/cymbal placement must be an issue. 3. It must be a few inches tougher to maneuver around tight corners backstage at venues. 4. If you absolutely HAVE to get a bass drum larger than 22", as if you're saying a 22" bass drum just won't cut it, why not go with a 26"? 5. 24" bass drums seem to be all the rage right now. Must be something to 'em...

24x14 is a magical size! Working on an orphan to match my super classic kit. I agree about tom placement, for me 20" bass drums are the max I can do for a mounted tom.
