That claim of Zildjian being "the oldest family-run business in America at nearly 400 years old", is disingenuous at best. They've decided to take credit for the 300 years of cymbal making that occurred in Turkey under the auspices of the Zildjian foundry in Istanbul for which they have no connection other than the passing on of the secret and the last name. They went to great lengths to separate themselves from the K. Zildjian Co. in all of their advertisements during those years when both Zildjians were being made, and yet now that K. Zildjian no longer exists, we see them pretending that both companies were always one and the same. so they can claim falsely claiming that their company is "400 years old".

They can't have it both ways, but yet that's exactly what they're trying to do here.

So the moral of this story is, when it come to Zildjian fun facts, its always good to put them to the test and look into those "facts" a little deeper. The reason for that is simply this:

Too often Zildjian "facts" turn out to be nothing more than Zildjian fiction. The truth is that the Avedis Zidjian company has been in existance since 1929. I'll let you do the math.

And yes, those are some large cymbals in that picture.

As far as the huge cymbals go, not to be the naysayer all the time but that chap looks like he is looking eye level with the doorknob and those cymbals don't come up very high on the door in the picture. I think that is a jockey in that picture dude!!DOH

I gotta tell ya the cymbals do look big in your new illustrations but the guys still look like they are still pointing me towards the Yellow Brick Road bro. He is sitting on a standard chair and the inside angle of his knee joint is obtuse leading me to believe that he probably couldnt get net on the courts!!

Again, I find all of these pictures extremely interesting and make no disputes towards any content. My comments are all based on the pictured individuals who would be lucky to be over five and a half feet tall making the more than likely standard sized cymbals look much bigger because of this little optical illussion. Put me in that picture and you would be talking about the hi hat cymbals they had in these photographs!! LoLoLoLo

So does anyone want to take a stab at what size these might be?

Well, my wife just reluctantly allowed me to measure her to where the cymbals appear to reach the gentlemen in the picture. She is 5' 8" and based on what I measured on her, those cymbals are between 22" - 24". Now, I don't believe the gentlemen pictured to be 5' 8" tall given the pictures of them in relation to the door and the chair so I will take a stab here, Drumaholic, and say those cymbals are no more than 22". Am I close?
