Zildjian 15" Hats

Loading...

I just bought a pair of Z 15" hats. I have a set on my drums at the jamhole and they sound fabulous. This guy bought a truck load of stuff from a guy off of CL here. It incuded double bass 4 tom clear zicko kit. some luddy black drums with ruff finish, blue olive badge and some wfy drums and some snares. I went and looked and her had a pair of 15" z hi hats. How can I tell how old these are. The rest of these drums are old old. Should I groove juice them to get a clearer view of the logo, or are the better left tarnished?

Ill post pics when I get home

Just e-mailed you a great article on how to date A's....it should answer your questions on ID'ing the age.

It's up to you regarding if you wanna clean 'em.

Yup, Groove Juice 'll take 'em back down to naked. Or you can go with Wrights Copper Cream which will remove the patina in stages. You need to give 3 or 4 applications to get all the patina off a heavily patina'd cymbal.

If they are butt-ugly, but you like the sound...I'd suggest just going with the Wrights and only doing a couple of applications at most.

if you strip 'em naked, it may well change the sound a bit.....oftentimes a complete strip opens 'em up a little...widens the overtones.
