Here is an online review of a 22" ride:

The 22" ride is quite a beast. Beneath the coating is a big, heavy cymbal. All the weight would usually point to a certain topness - and this is the case. The stick sound is a dictionary definition of the term 'glassy', with little variation across the body of the cymbal. Moving onto the bell, the sound changes significantly, becoming harder and more metallic. The pitch and cutting volume of the bell mean there's plenty of authority on offer.

To me. it sounds like it would be a LOUD ride that would work well with heavier music.

If the price is right, go try it out...You may like it!!

I picked one up at Guitar center cheap a few years back($60).

It is a heavy dry ride with a very pronounced ping and very little overtones.

Not much wash at all.

I believe the coated cymbal is a Z series B20 bronze cut from sheet metal as opposed to cast.

Ideal for loud guitar based blues rock .

Maybe I just too old school, but I don't know why anyone would want to buy a cymbal that's coated with lacquer.

The cymbal overwhelms the camera mic at times,but it's all I had to record.

Some might argue that the sound of the cymbal is more important than the aesthetics.

More on the the topic, my comment had direct bearing on the sound itself. But you don't get that? Do you really think that coating a cymbal with lacquer doesn't affect the sound at all?

In my case ,I bought the cymbal based on its dry ping caused by the coating.

Sometimes you got to have the right hammer for the right nail.
