Zickos acrylic drums and Slingerland snare

Loading...

Hi folks.

Few years ago I had a change to buy an old drumkit. It was called Zickos acrylic drums from 1970's. The condition is ok, but there are some scratches. At the moment it's been at a standstill and resting in my carage. I've thinking that maybe I would sell it now, because I haven't had any use for it.

So, my question is:

What would you pay this kind of drum kit? I have also Slingerland snare (which model, I don't know...in which year it is made, I don't know...) for sale. Can anybody help me with this? Photos below.

Cheers, Mika!

Hi Mika, welcome to the forum!

That is a very cool kit, and it looks to be pretty complete which is great. I would price it between $700 and $900 (without the snare) depending on condition. But please wait for others to chime in, because I could be way off. Look carefully for cracks in the acrylic, they can be repaired, but will effect value quite a bit. Scratches are not a major issue and can be buffed out if they are not too deep. I think Zickos made good quality acrylic shells that are thicker than what Ludwig used, but again I could be wrong about that. Someone here will give you an accurate ID and price on the snare for sure.

Stop stringing and tuning your instrument, make music now.

Snare looks to be an early '70s Super Sound King (dual strainer model). Should be a chrome over brass shell.

Hello Mika...and Welcome to the forum!

Honestly, I know nothing about Zickos drums and will let others with more knowledge offer their opinions on what you can expect to get for them.

As to the Slingerland snare drum, yes, it is a Super Sound King! Personally, I'd sell it separately. If it is complete, with the proper wires, and given it is a more rare 6.5" deep COB shell, I can see it going for upwards of $400 - $500.
