I jam regurlarly with a bunch of guys. We have an acoustical jam every thursday night and it gets packed. Billy plays bongos and I play my drum buckets. I have a drum bucket that sits on a tri pod and has a tamburine inside it. I can make several sounds with it with my fingers and ring. What do you take to an acoustic jam, or camp ground?

My pick is not vintage, nor cool like Poppy's drum buckets, but, my Remo Djembe works in all situations. Sounds great naturally/miked and the materials of the djembe are waterproof. Outdoors and indoors, it can be used in all seasons. I have the 16in, so it has great bass tone. Tunes by standard drum key, too.
I might steal the bucket idea, though.
My first kit, 1983 Ludwig Rocker? (it has the classic lugs and 4ply maple shell) 22,12,13,16 ..now in black oyster pearl. I still have it
Stop Sign USA Gretsch (80's), black nitron jasper shell 22,12,13,16
1995 Fibes Austin,Texas Badge (original owner) 22,10,12,16,18 in natural wood
USA 2007 Rosewood Gretsch 22,13,16 w/12inch 70's Rosewood Gretsch tom
I found a set of these several years ago on ebay for $25. They are great for acoustic jams or at camp grounds.

I'm partial to djembes. I have a Toca 26" composite body, string tensioned djembe which is a killer all around drum. Unbelievable low end. Does not have quite the same warmth as wood. I also have a 12" handmade wood string tensioned djembe I got from St. Maartens which is a nice complement to the 26" in a circle.
I would like to get an 18" or 20" in wood sometime in the future to fill out the middle range tone.
Bongos with nylon brushes or a snare with wire brushes.

I've got two. If no power - a Yamaha Birch Custom / Wood Hoops with brushes and an African mahogany bass. If there is power - Roland Handsonic 15 with a sweet amp I have on wheels. Either way...fun on a bun.
mcjnic, you have a pm
I ordered some fiberskyn 3 heads for my 6"-8"-10" roto toms. I believe they will sound pretty cool with brushes. What do y'all think?
