Thanks for the help and comments, guys! The snare cleaning is apparently progressing slowly with the stuff he's using - "Noxon 7" and "Never Dull Magic Wadding". There are some parts of the snare shell that shows signs of the plating wearing through to the brass, but it only adds to 'the look', I think.

As far as the bass goes: He cleaned it up with water and a soft cloth then some "Old English Restorer" and it looks pretty good. There is some damage to the outer shell and somewhat to the inside of the same area where the pedal attached, but all in all it's nice.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a well-used or even used-up 26" batter/front head set for the bass? He doesn't want to use anything new on it - just something to make it look complete. Let me know what you'd want for them.
