Yet another "what is this snare drum"

Loading...

Hey Guys and Gals,

a guy here at work just brought this in for me. I have no idea what it is, other than I am posting in the Non-USA drums forum.

I figured the lugs are distinctive enough that someone will recognize it.

P.S. If you were wondering what the mystery alto sax on the shopgoodwill site is, I did a bunch of looking around last night. It's an Allora. It will be here Thursday.

I was thinking MIJ 70's or so, but we found "Taiwan" stamped into one of the rims.

I tuned it up when I got home and it sounds pretty good. It has a new looking fiberskyn 2 beater head on it. I might swap out the snares and keep it around, it sounds different than anything else I have. It reminds me of my youth.

There is a guy on eBay trying to get $80 for one just like it. He doesn't know any more than I do about the drum, maybe less.

I've got a few of those lugs, I'm pretty sure they came off a drum branded 'TRAK' from the early 80s.

I've seen this before on this forum - an Asian no-name drum sold at a department store (Sears?) sometime in the late 80s-early 90s. That's all I remember...
