I recently picked up a couple of Pearl toms to add to a kit that I have and I noticed that the finish on my existing toms has yellowed a bit compared to the new ones. Becasue the new ones are of the same early 1990's variety of a limited run I assume there wasn't any changes in the poly/lacquer process.

I am thinking of picking up a 20+ year old white Yamaha painted kit and it appears that the finish on it has yellowed a bit.

Is there any product or process I can explore that would allow me to bring back some of the finish on these kits without completing refinishing the drum?

I don't want to do any harm to the original finishes on either one, but am hoping there is something that could allow me to brighten them up and bring them back to their more original state.

Is it possible to lightly sand and high speed buff this out hoping it is only in the first layer of the poly and not all of the way through to the finish on the shell?

Thanks!
