Year of Acro and Restoration Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Loading...

Just restored this one.

Serial#: 3116973

Blue Olive, Rounded Corners.

Any guesses on year?

Came from GC used.

Very used........

No muffler, dents in shell at throw and butt. Not in description.

I just had to fix it.

FYI, I have been a Rogers lug guy for a long time. AND...

These Ludwig lug bosses are much weaker than Rogers.

I have had 2 break off on Bowties on Ludalloy with cup washers and 1 on a large classic on stainless shell with cup washer.

Thin tube at that point.

So.....(You all probably know this)

Careful guys re-assembling these Ludwig lugs and screws.

I tightened them real easy.....and still.....

The dreaded pop and release.

Looks nice! That's some of the last b/o badge models, probably 83-84. I've ton a ton of these drums and know exactly what you're talking about on the lugs. In fact, on the Acros with this particular run of lugs, I go ahead and install a longer machine screw into every lug. The lug is threaded deeper inside down past the part that pops off. Makes them pretty much bullet proof from then on.

The deeper threads saved me on the acro lugs.

I used about 1/8" longer screws, and was able to get a bite of the inner threads.

The broken off bosses looked like aluminum tube.

Good trick on the longer screws for next time.

Thanks Mike.
