Hey mike I also have a rogers 4pc holiday kit. I am in by no means an expert. I do watch ebay and craigslist to see what prices they bring. I've noticed some things that effect price besides condition is the rarity of the finish and some tom tom sizes are more collectible than others. If I had your kit I would first try and the piece for the bass drum on put a head on it.Blue sparkle and the size of your drums are pretty standard. That being said I personally think blue sparkles looks fantastic.How does the finish look. If this was my kit and the finish is in excellent conditon I would probaly try to get $1,000 to $1,200 realistically for it. Maybe put it a little higher and see if anyone bites. Once again this is just from my personal research. I've also heard through this and anothers rogers forum that i'm on that with the economy prices have dropped considerably than a few years ago. Mike just reread your post.I'm a bit confused now. Did you purchase them used in 1979?

To reply about the date on the drums. I bought them in 1979 from a college kid, he had them for a long time before he sold them to me. Sorry about the confusion.

Yes, the Powertone has the Cleveland paper tag inside also. The drums are a little rough. I need to clean them up, and take some pictures of them. The bass drum is missing the front wooden pc that holds the head on. The original kick pedal broke in too many pieces to fix. Unfortunately i do not have it any more. The finish on the drums is still in good shape, and they all have original hardware. All have Rogers heads on the bottom. The bass drum still has the Rogers head on the kick side. I was figuring they were around the middle 60's. I looked on the internet a lot to compare. There are some beautiful Rogers sets out there. Some very expensive ones too. I appreciate the input. I will try to get some pictures on this site soon. Might be interested in selling them if anyone is looking for an old set.

[COLOR="Purple"]The Cleveland Powertone is pre-1963, maybe a year before or so. Wouldn't have been that unusual if they sent it out the door with a kit which is a year or so older....or the music store which sold it might have thrown it together with the 3-pc.

I have PM'ed you some info....

Replacement hoop can be purchased at drummaker.com or precisiondrum.com, specify the width of the inlay rabbet groove on the outside of the hoop. Then paint it black, oil-based semigloss paint,and get a matching sparkle inlay from one of the above merchants; double stick tape at the ends and you have made a nice reproduction bass hoop. You CAN find an ORIGINAL Rogers 20" hoop, but it'll cost you about $50 which is 2x price of a new one. But the link I sent you has a wanted section, or try eBay, too...if you wanna go that route.

That's cool that some Rogers heads still are with it.

Cleaned up nicely, even with the wear you describe, you should be able to get about $800-950 for it w/ snare, if you chose to sell. But gosh, that seems like a nice, intact old Rogers set....you should consider keeping it a while.....[/COLOR]
