Yamaha Y-badge golden dragon kit

Loading...

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for the quick input I have read that the Yamaha kits

were completely stand-alone in terms of build quality vs other Japanese made kits

if it were not for that one factor I would not even consider 450.00 for them

I am thinking also of how well the Golden Dragon wrap will look with the other kits

I forgot to mention that the inlay on one of the bass drum hoops was replaced by harvesting the Golden Dragon wrap from a badly damaged mounted tom donated by another mutual drum friend of my seller and I Thanks again Andrew ...Kenwood

Here's a pic of my Kit, I originally bought 13" Tom,Kick and Floor tom with a Blue snare then found a 10" tom that someone I believe made to match the Kit as they didn't make a 10" Tom in this series I spent 7 years looking for a matching 14" snare and finally found one last year. This year I will strip it down and have all the hardware re chromed. If you search Golden Dragon on the forum you will find someone has put up a picture of an original Catalog

Kenwood -

I would say 400 would be alot better than 450. That would make it an even 100 per drum, which is quite standard for good quality drums these days.

Then again - 50 bucks is not a big deal among friends so anywhere in 400-450 is a fair deal. That kit looks Minty clean! The new heads add a tremendous value!

Play the sucker out! Let her be seen! You have enough sitting and 'collected'!

Aren't you about to lose your storage?

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Hello Grant ..thanks for the reply nice kit I love the 10" drum

Good luck with the further resto and thanks for the heads up on the catalog images

Hello again John Thanks for the reply

Yes indeed 400.00 does sound better than 450.00

and is the exact amount I originally offered for them

450.00 was the seller's counter-offer to me

The situation with my drum space

has sort of stabilized for the forseeable future at least

John as for playing these yams on a gig

I am afraid so far, that my talents do not match up with my enthusiasm ...Kenwood

Kenwood - good to hear that your storage dilemma has been at least solved for the time being! It's all relative on playing ability - even just jamming with friends is better than not playing at all!

Just so happens that I have pending projects to build 10 inch add-ons for MIJ kits I have. Someday I will get around to them! Same goes for.....and.....and.....

The kit looks clean and should be a good buy at that price... I never played the 6 lug snare drum out on gigs... but the kick and toms can sound great with good heads and tuning. (Ive owned 3-4 of these kits over the years) I believe the earlier drums have re-rings and numbers stamped inside. The later ones have no re-rings and a C- *** (model number) stamped inside. All of the Thunder wraps have decal badges. Check to see that all have the badges (they can fall off when dried out over the years) I believe the original floor tom legs are smooth with no knurling. Be careful with the leg screws/threads on floor tom mounts... they are threaded direct in to mount and can strip easily.

Hello nashdrum Thanks for the reply and the heads up on the re-ring or no re rings, the badges,

FT legs and the leg mount issues

I will be sure to go over those points with my seller beforehand

Pardon the thread drift here

Hello John,

I figured I would show you what I have been doing

up in the drum space

I built this shelf it is 24" wide and runs the whole 24' of the back wall

on it, I will have some of my Japanese stuff (mostly partial bass/tom combinations)

while below I will have some of he nicer more complete Japanese stuff

What is pictured here was just me getting a rough idea of how it will look

the plywood sheating is not even in place

the drums are sitting on just some randon hunks of thin plywood for a temporary look-see

The Yamaha drums will be down on the floor with some of nicer kits

Kenwood
