What is the wood used in the 60-70.s Yams. It is a horizontal grain painted grey? I was told it could be beech or birch. Anyone know for certain?

There is no luuan in this drum from what i see, but then again its all painted gray:confused:

All i know after few investigation years, were made in Birch. If you get a good tunnig, you can hear a very good sound from the Sets Bagged with "Yamaha Nippon Gakki" or just "Yamaha Made in Japan". I have both sets and are great sound!.
