Yamaha vintage

I wonder what an old Yamaha wood snare might be made from. Looks like it could be maple but also possibly spruce. The drum is a blue swirl - looks 70's . . . any clues most appreciated.

It is lauan ("Phillipine Mahogany") with an inner-ply of birch, and sealed with a grey primer, though I've seen some in clear. his is the same formula used in the late-70's for the 7000-series. Personally, I think those old Yamaha's sound awesome. I have a kit, but it has a steel snare.
