Yamaha TT-712D Tom what wood?

Anyone got an idea of what this might be made out of? the catalogue says either birch for top of the line, or camellia, phillipine mahogany for the lower tier.

I can't tell you about that, but those Star bongos would be really nice to have for the collection.

I had a yamaha catalouge from around 1977,Offered the same two series construction wise,although the lugs were seperate on the 900 series which were birch, the color selections were limited with the 900 series offered in piano black and natural,700 in white,and natural.The 700 were the camelia outer and the nat finish looked a lot like the birch yamaha showed a couple of mix and match kits in the two series in the catalogue.I believe your tom would be camelia,if you can find a yammy birch to compare I think you would be able to tell the dif between mahogany and birch.I can't remember when yamaha went with the double ended single lugs for the 900's which turned into the recording series.
