Yamaha SD495 Brass snare

Loading...

Just purchased this Yamaha brass snare from the 1980's and was wondering if any one you guys have had any experience with it. It seemed like a good deal (less than $200) but more than anything, I do not have a brass snare in my collection. It is a 5.5x14. I used to own a DW brass snare, but that was many moons ago. It appears to be in above average condition for a 30 year old snare.

This drum is pretty rare I suppose. There really is not all that much info on it.

That's an 80's top of the line seamless brass snare with aluminum power hoops. These drums were offered as an option with the Recording Custom series drum kits. As good or better than any of the brass shell snares made today.

Thanks for the feedback. I got the drum and even though some of the snare wires were missing, it still sounded amazing. I bought some puresound wires and have yet to attach them. Super stoked about this guy.

Puresound wires will be a welcome addition!
