What were these shells made from and how many plys...Were they any good?

Hi Wayne, according to the internet the Rydeen is made out of 6-ply Philippine mahogany shells. They were an entry level kit so as far as if they were any good, it's up to the user I suppose.

I've played them before. Pretty good. Everything Yamaha has put out is at least pretty decent. If you can get these for $150 or so that's a good price.

I got "stuck" playing a Rydeen at a gig a few weeks ago. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be! The kick was totally decent, in fact. For the right price, it would be a fine practice or starter kit.
